The workshop is a full-day event, which begins after registration, fits around your usual timings for break and lunch, and ends at around 3pm. It is a very busy and packed programme, and so we suggest that you try and run it on a day where there are no other commitments, such as an assembly.

In order to accommodate all of your pupils at the same time, we would ideally have access to your hall for the day. The best way to run the workshop is to have individuals sat on PE mats and working in small teams. We would obviously clear the mats away in time for lunch and then re-set everything again once lunch was over.

Should we need to vacate the hall before lunch (so that the dinner ladies can set up, for example), we can simply retreat to the classrooms for a short period and keep going. However, if we are likely to be classroom-based for more than 50 minutes, do please let us know before you book, as this will have an impact on the smooth-running of the day.

The ideal size of a workshop is two classes working all together in the hall at the same time. If you are a three-form entry school, we can accommodate all three classes at once, providing you have a large enough venue. And if you have four classes per year group, we would advise you to book two workshops over two days. This way, everybody still gets to participate to the maximum extent, and we avoid a sense of overcrowding.

Two to three weeks before your workshop, we will give you a quick call at school, just to check on some of the finer details (expected pupil numbers, exact timings for the day etc). Providing your hall is booked out, however, there is very little preparation that you need to do in advance of the day.

On the day of the workshop, all your pupils will require to take part in the programme is a pencil, a Jungle Explorer activity booklet (which we will bring with us) and access to coloured pencils or felt tips.

If your hall contains a projector and a screen, we will simply plug our laptop into your existing set-up. If your venue does not have these facilities, however, we can happily bring along our own audio-visual equipment and project our presentation directly onto a blank wall.

Please note: the Jungle Explorer workshop is a very visual day. In order for your pupils to enjoy the experience, we need to be able to darken the room to a reasonable degree. If you have floor-to-ceiling windows and no curtains or blinds, pupils will be unable to see the photos and videos clearly, and their enjoyment of the day will be seriously diminished.

Should you have any questions regarding the logistics needed to run the day, or if you would like to discuss anything specific to your school (eg. very long lunchtimes or limited hall availability), please do not hesitate to contact us.
