The Jungle Explorer workshop is delivered by an explorer with extensive experience of working and living in the tropical rainforests. Specifically designed to bring your topic to life in an exhilarating and dramatic fashion, this full-day event is aimed at pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6, and is ideal for classes studying the tropical rainforest, the Amazon, South America, or biomes.

Set to an ever-changing backdrop of stunning photos and awe-inspiring videos, the Jungle Explorer workshop combines fun, educational activities with short, fact-filled presentations. Over the space of a full day, pupils are guided through a 20-page activity booklet, with individuals completing challenges and simultaneously learning useful information. They also have the opportunity to ask anything they wish about life as an explorer, and hear first-hand stories about real-life jungle expeditions.

Pupils spend the morning investigating issues such as the location of the world’s rainforests; the tropical climate and the water cycle; the different layers of the rainforest and the wondrous diversity of plant life to be found there; the vast array of wildlife; and indigenous rainforest tribes. The afternoon is then spent considering all aspects of deforestation, as well as taking a close-up look at the gruesome and grim dangers that await you if you venture into the jungle unprepared.

Some of the questions addressed during a Jungle Explorer workshop include:
Why does the rainforest grow in layers?
Just how giant is a giant anaconda?
What will happen if the rainforests disappear?
Do some plants really eat meat?
How do rainforest tribes survive without the internet?
Why is it so wet in the jungle?
What should I do if I get bitten by a venomous snake?
Why do people keep chopping down the Amazon rainforest?
What exactly is a bullet ant?
Where are the tropical regions?
Do some mushrooms really glow in the dark?
