How much does the workshop cost?
The price of the Jungle Explorer workshop is £360 for the day. This should work out at approximately £6 per pupil for a two-form entry school, or £4 per pupil for a three-class year group.
We do not charge VAT on top of this amount, and we do not usually invoice the school until after the workshop has been delivered (we will, however, provide your finance team with documentation in advance of the day, so that they can set us up on their supplier system).

How many classes can you accommodate?
The ideal size of a workshop is two classes working all together in the hall at the same time. If you are a three-form entry school, we can accommodate all three classes at once, providing you have a large enough venue. If you have four classes per year group, however, we would advise you to book two workshops over two days. This way, everybody still gets to participate to the maximum extent, and we avoid a sense of overcrowding.

How do I book?
To request a detailed itinerary of the day, check on workshop availability, or book yourself in, we can be reached at either info@JungleExplorerWorkshop.com or on 0208 720 6507. Alternatively, feel free to use the form on the Contact Us page.
When checking availability with us, it is usually advisable to suggest a few different dates, just in case we are unable to make your first choice. We tend to get extremely busy at certain times of the year, so if you have a specific date in mind, we would always suggest that you try and book yourself in as far in advance as you comfortably can.

What exactly is involved in the day?
The workshop combines fun, educational activities with short, fact-filled presentations, all set to an ever-changing backdrop of stunning photos and awe-inspiring videos.
Over the space of a full day, pupils are guided through a 20-page activity booklet, participating and learning at the same time. Along the way, they also have the opportunity to ask anything they wish about life as an explorer, and hear first-hand stories about real-life jungle expeditions.
The Format page provides a more thorough explanation of what is involved in the day, including details of the workshop content.

How much time and space do we need?
The Jungle Explorer workshop is a full-day event, which is best run in your school hall (or a similar-sized space). For full details on the requirements, have a read through the Logistics page.

How far into our topic should we run the Jungle Explorer workshop?
We are often asked when exactly is the best time to run a workshop. Is it at the beginning of your topic, or perhaps somewhere in the middle, or maybe even towards the end? In our opinion there is no right or wrong time to run a workshop; it is really just a matter of personal preference.
Some of the schools that we work with seem to like the idea of launching their topic with a wow experience. As such, our workshop will often be the very first thing that pupils do. Other schools, meanwhile, prefer to run one of our workshops mid-way through their topic, and the day then becomes an opportunity for pupils to demonstrate that they have in fact retained information. Others still use the day as an end-of-term reward, bringing their rainforest topic work to a conclusion in an exciting and dynamic fashion, whilst at the same time plugging any final gaps in pupils’ knowledge.
From our perspective, we are happy to deliver a Jungle Explorer workshop at any point during your topic work. Each of the activities has been specifically designed so that it can be completed by somebody with no prior knowledge, whilst still proving challenging to those with a higher level of expertise.

Do our staff hold DBS certificates?
As an organisation, we fully comply with the DfE’s Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2024 statutory guidance and recommended practices. All our staff are subject to rigorous personnel and recruitment checks, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
All staff have also undergone relevant safeguarding training. When visiting a school, they will always provide photo ID upon arrival, along with an original copy of their DBS certificate.

Do you charge cancellation fees?
We have recently introduced a risk-free method of booking, by removing all of our cancellation charges. What this means is that you can now book your workshop date as far in advance as you wish, and if you are later forced to cancel the workshop for any reason, there will be absolutely nothing to pay, even if the cancellation comes at the very last minute.

Why do you not work with Year 3 pupils?
For a number of years now, almost all of our enquiries and bookings have come from staff teaching pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6. As a consequence, the workshop content has slowly evolved to specifically cater for this age bracket. For example, the day nowadays includes gruesome photos of blood sucking leeches and hairy tarantulas, which 8-11 year olds seem to absolutely love, but which would probably upset younger children.
The activities themselves have also evolved to become more challenging over the last few years, to better suit a Year 4/5/6 audience. As such, the Jungle Explorer workshop probably isn’t the best option for Year 3 pupils.
